Aalo Little Kantha Quilt

£48.00
SOLD OUT

Aalo, a beautiful, soft, 100% upcycled cotton sari, kantha quilt.

Cozy up with this one-of-a-kind kantha quilt. The perfect companion for little ones.

❃ Our Basha kantha quilts are six layers of vintage cotton sari, hand-sewn together using a traditional kantha stitch.

❃ Made of 100% upcycled cotton sari cloth. Time softened sari cotton creates a lightly-quilted, cosy feel.

❃ Our little kantha quilts are approx. one quarter of a sari size: 1 m x 1 m, half the size of our standard throw quilts.

❃ The word 'kantha' means 'patched cloth' and skilful repairs simply enhance the vintage character of this quilt.

❃ Each kantha is one-of-a-kind with it’s own unique variations and each one features the hand-stitched name of the woman who made it. This quilt was handmade by Pnomila.

❃ Care: Our kantha quilts are machine washable (and in fact get softer over more time & use). To extend the life of your kantha we recommend: limiting full washing, do not use bleach or harsh detergents, use cold settings and hang dry or tumble on low heat.

❃ Handmade by women who were previously trafficked into or otherwise engaged in formal or floating sex work (or at risk), now employed in work that brings dignity & livelihood. These are beautiful heirloom pieces which provide freedom and opportunity to the women who hand crafted your kantha quilt. Learn more about Basha.
